Little Barrier Island

Great for stray-lining over the kelp in the shallow waters, or dropping over the deeper foul for a mixed bag of snapper, terakihi, trevally, kahawai and kingfish. Fish are abundant in variety.

Charters to Little Barrier start from $2,000 per day. More information on costs and extras are available on our prices page.
Great Barrier Island
Situated 90km NE of Auckland, Great Barrier Island stretches 40km North to South with idyllic and well sheltered anchorages aplenty.

A fishing haven for the novice to the more experienced angler.

The Mokohinaus
The Mokohinaus (or 'Moks' as referred to by most anglers) are a small group of volcanic stacks situated 25km NW of Great Barrier.
Left to regenerate naturally, these islands are home to a number of New Zealand's smallest endangered species. Main attractions today include the very clear waters teeming with wildlife, making it an ideal spot for fishing and diving.
Charters to the 'Moks' start from $2,100 per day. More information on costs and extras are available on our prices page.
Kawau Island
Situated 65km NNE of Auckland, Kawau Island is one of the largest islands that make up the Hauraki Gulf in the northern part of New Zealand.
Being less than an hour steam from Ti Point Wharf it is a popular choice amongst anglers during the spawning season (November / December) for a day's fishing charter.

Approximately 5 miles long and 3 miles wide, the island is almost split in two by Bon Accord Harbour, which opens towards the mainland.

Charters to Kawau Island start from $2,000 per day. More information on costs and extras are available on our prices page.
Your Skipper
I got my start in fishing when I was 2 or 3, as early as I can remember, fishing off the Napier wharf with my gran. Many a summers were spent steaming from Napier as far north as Whangaroa Harbour chasing snapper, kingfish and marlin on Mum and Dad's boat.

As an adult and a very passionate recreational fisho my whole life, I decided to give it a go as a career and started working on fishing charters in 2008 after a brief stint in London. I'm much more at home on the sea than in a big city!
In 2011, after working as a deck hand for three years on board Thor and gaining my sea time for my skippers ticket, I had the opportunity to take over as owner/operator. Since then we've been running charters 10 months a year, ranging from family trips, corporate charters, work doos, to stag and hens doos. We are also well known in the Australian fishing community for our fully catered week long trips.
Our specialty is extended overnighters, from one night to ten. We fish at Great Barrier, Little Barrier, Mokohinaus, Kawau and as far south as Cuvier Island.
With our Ti Point location we are in great proximity to awesome fishing spots.
Little Barrier only being a short one hour steam away and Great barrier & Mokohinaus being a little over two hours.

If you're looking for a great day out on the water, with guaranteed fish, give us a buzz.

PEST-FREE “Whilst preserving our pristine marine environment and marine life is our primary focus, we still do have an interaction with the land – mainly the unique and varied islands of the Hauraki Gulf, many of which are reserves and sanctuaries. That is why we have and hold pest-free certification. To ensure our Crew are trained in ensuring these beautiful islands and eco-systems remain pest free – no stowaways on Thor Charters!
